LANGUAGE

The official language of the regatta will be English. In case of any differences between translations, the English text will prevail.



DATE AND VENUE

The 29th Ariane’s Cup will be held in the sea region of Lorient and Groix Island
(Île de Groix), South Brittany, France.



ORGANIZATION

The 29th Ariane’s Cup will be organized according to the OSCAR and Astrium rules. For the offshore part of the event, Astrium will be supported by the local sailing club, Centre Nautique de Lorient (CNL), the panel of judges, a charter company, and the marina of Lorient. Allocation of the boats by the drawing of lots will take place.



RULES

The event will be governed by the following rules:
1. The ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing 2005 – 2008
2. The Regulations of the “Autorité Nationale” of the “Fédération Française de Voile”
3. The National regulations “Handicap National”
4. Any publicity is restricted to level C according to the “Code Publicité”, paragraph 20 ISAF.
5. This notice of race, the race instructions and the annexes thereof, as well as possible sub-agreements.



CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

The Ariane’s Cup is restricted to employees of the Ariane programme. To obtain the most pleasure from the sailing and to maintain the friendly nature of this event, skippers are requested to recruit their crews only from the staff and their spouses, of companies and organizations participating in the Ariane programme. The organisers count on the goodwill of every skipper.
This article is part of the rules, and must be respected. Skippers must be aged over 18. For reasons of sportsmanship and safety, the boats must have a complete crew corresponding to the number of berths. Every participant should be equipped with a minimum of individual belongings for living and overnight stay aboard.



REGISTRATION

The completed Entry Form has to be sent to www.arianescup2008.com by the 31st March 2008 at the latest. While applying for the participation, please note that the participating fee of 399,- € will be due immediately and shall be paid by bank transfer according to the indications on the said registration form.

This fee includes:
– the charter fee for the boat from the 2nd to the 5th October 2008 and harbour dues
– Welcome Cocktail party on 2nd October 2008
– Breakfasts, lunch bags and drinks aboard (3rd to 5th October 2008)
– Dinner parties on 3rd and 4th October 2008
– Gifts

Entries after the above mentioned deadline will also be accepted but are subject to the boat availability

BOATS

All crews will be provided with charter boats from 31–46 feet (category: 6, 8 +10 berths). It is not permitted to modify exchange or remove existing equipment on charter boats. The additional usage of own spinnakers is not permitted.



PENALTIES

360° penalties and other penalties shall apply according to rules 44.2. and 44.3 of the Racing Rules.



POINT SYSTEM / SCORING

The Low Point System will be applied according to paragraph 4 Annex A of the RCV (Règles de Course à la Voile). All race results are counted in order to obtain a general scoring.



PANEL OF JUDGES

A panel of judges will be appointed. The decisions of the panel of judges shall be final



SAFETY REGULATIONS

Each skipper is – in every respect – responsible for a seaman-like leadership of the boat. All participants in this event will start at their own risk and will take responsibility for their own actions. The Organising Committee or any person or any part of the Organisation decline any responsibilty for the loss of life or property, injury or annoyance/disturbance that might occur to people or things, on land or at sea, as a consequence of the participation in any of the events announced in this Notice of Race.



INSURANCE

All participants shall have a public liability and third party insurance policy including coverage when racing at the venue of the regatta of not less than 1.5 million Euros.

Please note that minor changes concerning this Notice of Race and / or the Programme might occur.
